I just last week was talking with a very dear friend about the phenomenon of your business being an even more impactful spiritual teacher than intimate relationship because there's no one else to point out. There's no one to deflect to or project on. This is what I have to say about this. You will be asked to go first and live the work before you lead it. I have clients who have been self-employed, running their own businesses now for upwards of a decade. I have clients who are just this year creating something from nothing that will be the crux of their livelihood going forward. What we all have in common is we are asked to live the work before we can lead it again and again and again and take your own medicine before anyone else will ever pay you for the metaphorical prescription. And if you don't, she and I were also talking about this at length, the divine will dom you into submission anyway. Because life and the divine assign the initiation you need next every single time. This is exactly what happened to me. Specifically, in regard to my one of my signature experiences, supernatural sutras that I have been facilitating. This is actually its 10th year and created in 2015. I would like to read you something. I wrote about all of this this week. Take a listen. 10 years ago, I created my annual Supernatural Sutras Sojourn into Shadow to counter the good vibes only gloss over much of the yoga industry at the time. That was 2015, and the event was Halloween adjacent, dark and twisty, sure, but still surface. Because I myself hadn't consciously conjured my underworld descent yet. And if you're here, you already know any and all healing work first insists. Oh no, honey. First rule of sight club, you take your own medicine first. Which is precisely how one year later, Supernatural Sutras took on an entirely new meaning when the second round in 2016 arrived. By that time, palpable shackles of my shadow led me to a priestess initiation in Peru, my first plant medicine journeys, cathartically vomiting shadows and spider webs, exactly as I had intended, while Kali nodded along. Naked, howling fireside in the Andes, starting therapy, roaring to life, utter caricatures of toxic men to initiate and extricate myself through a shamanic death training, writing my own eulogy. It started with, woo, what a ride, and more. Suffice it to say, that next round of supernatural sutras in 2016 hit different. This is a death practice through the lens of Yoga Sutra Book Three about the supernatural powers of the yogi. And regarding the sect of a Goris, the yogis who live death and taboo. Hear that again. Live death and taboo as spiritual practice. Good vibes only. You're missing it, they'd say. And stay with me because 10 years later, this is what I now know. All of this death is about attaining life, a richness, and on your knees devotion, a dirt under your nails from clawing at the earth, remembrance of your light, a glimmer in your eye when you look in the mirror on plant medicine of soul recognition that actually knows she's got it, even and especially in the underworld. And this is so important that it's a laboratory, not a permanent address. This is radiance, a mining of the shadows and coming up gold, exhilarated with a ferocity for being alive. This is what we do now, year after year, at Sawin, Halloween, all souls and saints. Look in the mirror, claw the earth, lose the illusion and clutching. Learn from the agora who literally devour death. Vinyasa's intentional creation of suffering so that you learn to do it nimbly as a dance. Corpse pose as prereq to your glorious evolution.
